Memorable Events on July 22
Celebrating
my 21 years of existence in this world is one of the sociological imagination
event to myself. According to Mills, sociological imagination is "the vivid awareness of the relationship
between experience and the wider society". In effect to that, it is
clearly stated by Mills that sociological imagination observe how interactions
and actions are influential upon other individuals and situations.

Last
July 22, I treated my classmates out to dinner at the Penong’s Restaurant
Bajada Davao City. Before we eat, my classmates sang a “Happy Birthday” song to
me. After that, one of my classmate “Jennica Tan” led a prayer of thanksgiving
for my birthday. I and my classmates were very enjoy eating on it for we all know
that Chicken Barbeque is one of our favorite meal. I was very happy in the
presence of my classmates even my family is not there celebrating my 21st
birthday.
July
22 is the 203rd day of the year, 204th
in leap years in the Gregorian calendar, there are 162 days remaining until the end of the
year. In the same day of my birthday, there were negative incidents happened on
that day. These incidents were, summary killing, bombing, murder and massacre
and many more.

Example was Bank
Robber John Dillinger, July 22 1934 who was shot and killed by FBI agents as he
left Chicago’s Biograph Movie Theater after watching the film Manhattan
Melodrama. According to the news article, Dillinger was the first criminal
labeled by the FBI as "Public Enemy No. 1." After spending nine years
(1924-1933) in prison. Dillinger went
on a deadly crime spree, traveling through the states of Indiana. He was
reportedly betrayed by the "Lady in Red."

On July 22 of 1916 a bombing occurred in San Francisco
California, during the parade there was a suitcase of bomb denoted. There were
10 who was killed and 40 who was wounded. Two labor leaders named, Thomas
Mooney and Warren K. Billings, were convicted in separate trials and
sentenced to be hanged. While Rena Mooney and Israel Weinberg were
acquitted.

Another negative incident was
happened last July 22, 2011 in Norway. A large bomb blast hit Norway's capital “Oslo”,
killing at least eight people. After the said bombing, a gunman attacked an
island youth camp run by the country's Labor Party and killed at least
sixty-eight people. A thirty-two year old suspect named Anders Behring Breivik was
detained and admitted to committing both attacks.

In U.S.A July of 22nd
1991, Jeffrey Dahmer is caught and is considered one of the most sadistic
serial killers. Dahmer's apartment was searched, the extent of his horrors was
revealed, it contained pictures of body parts and the apartment was littered
with human remains including human heads in the refrigerator and freezer, there
was also evidence to suggest that he had been practicing cannibalism with his victims’
bodies, he later confessed to 17 murders in all.

While searching in the internet, I
was also amazed because I discover that I have a same birthday with Architect Jacques-Germain
Soufflot. He was born on July
22, 1713. He is a French architect who design the Panthéon in Paris. The Pantheon was built from 1755 onwards and originally it was church dedicated to Saint
Genevieve.
